Welcome to Trickman Boer Goats

In May we purchased another great yearling buck from Alan and Pam Motta ~ Riverview Boer Goats ~ Felicity, Ohio.  Comanche is a year old and weighs in at 200+ pounds.  He is as long as a freight train - correct on his feet - full of muscles and meat ~~~ we are excited to see what his kids will look like when they start hitting the ground!  This boy has some of the best proven Boers in the country on his pedigree --- RRD Ruger T307 **ennobled** buck is his grandsire!  Plus throw in a little eggs E.G.G.S. R810 **ennobled with my favorite buck 4-K Goat Farm V104 "Maverick" **ennobled**...then mix in DKLK JRP TY **ennobled** and TLB 741 **ennobled**....... Comanche has all of this and then some!

We decided before the Iowa State Fair August 2013 to take the plunge and purchase a new goat trailer.  After pricing trailers for 3 or 4 years we felt it was time to get it done; so we sold our Southern Classic Low Profile trailer the week before going to the State Fair.  It was kind of strange to load the goats and tack in the trailer, unload everything at the fair and hand the title over to our friend Pat and Shelly Pitlick.  Our friend James Shepard loaded our goats and tack in his trailer for the trip home.  In September we borrowed a trailer from friends Marsha and Erin Patterson in order to attend the IMGA shows at Indianola.  Finally, October 23 we received the call our new trailer could be picked up at Cresco, Iowa home to Alum Line Trailers.  The trip to get the trailer was 3 hours there and 3 hours back; we had side winds and headwinds pretty much all the way home; our new streamline 6 foot tall 21 foot long trailer traveled with ease through it all.  The last test for the trailer was a 3 mile trek home on a dusty gravel road.  The sealed backend of the trailer kept all of the dust and crud from entering the trailer!  So now we can't wait to take it to either a sale, private farm or show with goats in tow!

As the show season starts to draw to a close; we would like to send CONGRATS out to a few families who purchased goats from us.

This Fall of 2012 doe kid proved to be a good choice for Zeke as she was named Reserve Grand Champion Breeding doe at the Iowa State Fair FFA show.  She also won her class followed by being named Reserve Champion Fullbood Doe Kid which led into being named Reserve Grand Champion Fullblood Doe at the 2013 IMGA Day 2 show.  The IMGA show had over 200 animals exhibit each day of the 2 day weekend.

More winning for Miss Kitty and Kaylie
Kaylie F and TBG Capt's Miss Kitty

Kaylie F has had a fantastic year with Miss Kitty.  She has been in the running for winning her class or has won her class almost every show they attended.  This is just one of the days Miss Kitty did well --- Miss Kitty won Grand Champion Breeding Doe at the 2013 Warren County Fair.

More winning for Miss Kitty and Kaylie

Miss Kitty was also named Champion Yearling Division Fullblood doe Day 2 at the IMGA shows plus was named Best Iowa Bred Born and Raised Fullbood Doe both Day 1 and Day 2 at the IMGA shows (Miss Kitty won this title in 2012 as well on Day 1 of the IMGA Show).

We had an amazing year showing in 2011.  First about 2 weeks before the Tall Corn Sale in April Rick had emergency surgery on his foot.  Rick was not allowed to put any weight on his foot for over 90 days - thus the show season was left up to Cathy and Stephanie.  We started our showing at Adel with just two wethers that belonged to Stephanie. These two wethers Parkour and Toad put a lot of miles on their resume' this past Summer.  It was quite interesting to see them show: Parkour was a wether you either really liked or you didn't... if the judge really  liked him he always placed in the money (top 5 of the class - only 3 times of the 9 times he was in the show ring Parker stood in back of the class).  At Minne-Goat-a Parkour won his class, at IMGA he placed 2nd and at the Tall Corn Jackpot Show he placed 4th!  Toad was the sleeper -- I think he always placed in the top 5 --- many times he was 3rd and at the Tall Corn Jackpot he was 5th!  Our does Lady Marvel, FHF Z0009, FHF Z377, Patchwork and Firefly does had a pretty good year as well.  We ended up with many 1st, 2nd and 3rds from these girls.  We even had a Division Champion, three Division Reserve Champions and Reserve Grand Champion Fullblood Doe!  Our buck Captain America only showed in two shows this year as we were using him in the breeding pen most of the Spring and Summer but he did us very proud by winning his class and being named Champion Yearling Buck one day and Reserve Champion Yearling Buck the second day.  To say the least we were  very happy with our show season and are already looking at our young does to see who we might show next year!

Home of FHF Daddy's Girl - Six Shows in 2010 - Six Championships!

"This doe has the longest loin area I think I have ever judged" exclaimed Judge Wess Hallman.

Daddy's Girl was our top show doe for 2010.  She brought home 4 Sr. Grand Champion Percentage Doe placings, 2 Sr. Reserve Grand Champion Percentage Doe placings and was named GRAND CHAMPION PERCENTAGE DOE  by ABGA Judge Wess Hallman.  Daddy's Girl has been ultra-sounded safe to kid in January 2011 with twins.  She is bred to AABG NBD Rip To Be Square, our own Ripper son buck.  We can't wait for those two little surprise packages -- who knows what color they will be -- they can be anywhere between traditional ~ caped ~ paint ~ polka dot ~ red!

"Living The Country Life" --- RFD TV

Trickman Boer Goats was featured on a segment of "Living The Country Life" the first week in December 2009, which airs on RFD-TV.  Producers of this program contacted us in October 2009 -- after determining the producers were not fakes or joking as we have several friends who love to mess with us and pull pranks - we decided the show would be a lot of fun.  The film crew came to our farm and filmed from 9:00 in the morning until close to 3:00 in the afternoon one cool day in late October.  After filming we supplied the producer with some pictures of Steph and Carson showing goats and Steph in the Poweshiek County Fair Queen contest...which by the way she won and represented our county at the Iowa State Fair in 2009.  A link to the video is .http://www.livingthecountrylife.com/lcl/file.jsp?item=/videos/index&temp=yes&videoId=4258268

  So check it out!
